Therapy

You may be searching for a safe, empathetic holding space that allows you to exist in all of your complexity. My therapeutic aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply, and to develop genuine compassion for your unique human expression.

I enjoy working with adults, teens, and children who are highly sensitive, neurodivergent, emotionally intense, or those who have prior diagnoses of mental health conditions. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, the effects of trauma, or are having difficulty navigating relationships— I am here to support you.

Even in our hardest seasons, we carry an innate capacity to heal. My work honors this belief, and is grounded in a relational, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed approach. My aim is to walk alongside you (with a lantern and a warm blanket) as you discover the parts of "you" that ring most true and clear.

Influences

My perspective on what makes for effective, "good" therapy comes from my life experiences. I'm also influenced by relational thinkers like Jessica Benjamin and Karen Maroda, along with the person-centered philosophy of Carl Rogers. At its core, I believe that healing can take many forms, and therapy is just one of them.

I see the therapeutic space as flexible and shaped by your needs. Sometimes, therapy may function as a kind of laboratory—a place for experimentation or play. You may wish to “try on” new ways of being and relating to others. This kind of exploration is welcomed, and often feels easier in the presence of a 'safe and supportive' Other.

At other times, therapy may be more focused and guided by specific goals. You may need more structured support, holding, or containment. Ultimately, I see therapy as a place where you (the client) are welcome to speak as freely and openly as you wish, about whatever is on your mind. In our sessions, you can "be as human as humanly possible" in the presence of a compassionate witness.

Lastly, rather than therapy being something “done to” you  (the client)  by me  (an all-knowing, all-seeing, professional), I see therapy as a collaboration between two equal partners. I aim to foster a space where power is acknowledged, shared, and continually negotiated. "No one knows you better than you know yourself" is an axiom I take to heart.
