My Story

This is my story….
a  humble beginning really.  Our first son Jacob was born with two congenital heart defects.  As new parents this was crushing. During the first year of his life,  adjusting to a high needs child took its toll.  I felt as though I had been forgotten by my Maker.  So out of desperation I started to create. I had always been creative but some how I had forgotten. At a time when I was so lost, this some how allowed a new space for the real deep parts of who I was to blossom forth.  With new inspirations from the Lord, I cleared an area in the attic. I bought an old antique 1940’s Singer, with two stitches, front and back, at a garage sale.  Then, as God patched Jacob’s heart with a miracle, He also patched mine. With the guidance of  God’s  gentle hands I have been creating with my hands and heart ever since. That is why we are called The Patchwork Heart, Co.  I hope that you enjoy  my ribbon work, accessories, gifts, and project kits. May they bring you the joy of creating something with your hands and your heart.
We are a home- business family.  My husband supports us with his home-based camera accessories business .  We home school 3 of 4 children, our fourth has graduated.  We are so fortunate to  live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.  We are city dwellers with hearts that long for a country mile.  We raise eight chickens, love homegrown anything,  beach vacations and have more books than one family should! We are Christians,  who love God and claim passionately that Jesus is our Lord and Savior! David and I have made a covenant to teach our children the love of Jesus and His love for all through lifestyle evangelism.  As for myself ,  before living my life for Christ I was such a sinner(mind you I am still a sinner, but I now have the grace of Christ, forgivness of my sin and eternal life, I think that I made a great choice!) … so without the Lord none of this would be possible and it is with a humble human heart that I give Him all the glory.
I was raised in an artistic home and given many opportunities to explore the world and arts and crafts.  I love being creative and I often find that I can’t help myself.  I love coffee far too much, I marvel at the beauty of nature. I like to participate in the mysterious process and so I grow a garden.  I never tire of the forest or the song of the birds or the pink skin of a wee little baby!  I love laughing and do it loudly and often with tears.  I enjoy photography and collecting treasure.  And in the summer you might find David and I and the kids at the water's edge searching for heart rocks or blue beach glass! I can’t go very  long without the smell of the sea salted air or the tumultuous
roar of the ocean.
Thank you for your interest in what we are doing, I would love to hear from you!
